ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION 2007

HOW TO ENSURE THE RULE OF LAW IN PAKISTAN:

PARTICULARLY IN TIMES OF CRISIS?

PRIZE:

First Prize       :       Rs. 15,000/-,

Second Prize   :       Rs. 10,000/- and

Third Prize     :       Rs. 5,000/-.

The winning essay will be published in the
subsequent edition of
AL- Mizan Magazine.

 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

1.      All essays must be the unpublished work of a single author.

2.      Entrants agree that if chosen as the winner of the Essay Writing Competition that their essay will be published in AL- Mizan Magazine. Entrants who receive honourable mention agree to have abstracts of their essay published in AL- Mizan Magazine.

3.      Essays must between 5000 to 7000 words.

4.      Name of the Entrant is not to appear anywhere in the essay with the exception of the cover page.

5.      Cover page shall contain the following: Roll No., Name, Section, Semester, Address, email address, and title of the Essay.

6.      Deadline for submission of essays is 15th January, 2008.

7.      Essays will be blind peer-reviewed.

8.      Decisions of the Essay Committee of the College, on the awarding of Prizes, will be final.

9.      Only the winners will be notified of the results. No other correspondence with entrants will be entered into.

10.    Essays must follow the style guide available on www.hartpub.co.uk/style.

11.    Competition is open to all the students of the University Law College.

12.    Essays must be submitted by email to pulc@brain.net.pk, with an accompanying abstract of not more than 300 words, in addition to a hard copy submitted to Mr. Amanullah Malik, Incharge of the Essay Writing Society and Mushaira, in his office

 

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Winning essays will be selected on the basis of the following:-

-    Relevance       -  Quality of Research;       -   Depth of Analysis;   -   Clarity and Elaboration of Argument; and     -  Writing Style.
